Comment

Some populations previously referred to Leptopelis modestus may actually be of this species according to the original publication. Lötters, Wagner, Bwong, Schick, Malonza, Muchai, Wasonga, and Veith, 2007, Fieldguide Amph. Rept. Kakamega Forest: 37-38, provided an account. Greenbaum, Portillo, and Chifundera, 2012, Afr. J. Herpetol., 61: 113-127, included this species in their molecular tree and found it to be distant from Leptopelis modestus.  Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 113, reported on comparative tadpole morphology. Greenbaum, Hughes, Kasumba, and Masudi, 2015, Herpetol. Rev., 46: 378, provided a record for Orientale Province, Dem. Rep. Congo. Spawls, Wasonga, and Drewes, 2019, Amph. Kenya: 8, provided a range map for Kenya, photograph, and brief characterization. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 226–227, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
