Distribution

Lower montane rainforest in western Panama, on the Cordillera Central from Barú Volcano to the east over the La Fortuna depression into the Serranía de Tabasará, but interrupted between La Fortuna and Guayabito, 1400-2134 m elevation.

Removed from the synonymy of Craugastor podiciferus by Arias, Hertz, and Parra-Olea, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13: 173 (who provided a detailed account with vocalizations), where it had been placed tentatively by Taylor, 1952, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 35: 717.
