Eleutherodactylus escoces Savage, 1975, Copeia, 1975: 280. Holotype: LACM 76857, by original designation. Type locality: "Costa Rica: Provincia de Heredia: Canton de San Rafael: south slope of Volcan Barba: E margin Alto de Roble, 0.5 km N Cerro Chompipe, nr. Rio Las Vueltas: 2030 m." Savage, 1974, Rev. Distribution

Premontane and lower montane evergreen forest (1100–2100 m) on the volcanos Barba, Irazú, and Turrialba, and from Juan Castro Blanco National Park (1820 m elevation), Alajuela, Costa Rica.
