Comment

See comment under Eleutherodactylus rostralis. See account by Savage, 1987, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 33: 19–25, who discussed the synonymy, and who placed this species to be in his more restrictive Eleutherodactylus gollmeri group. In the Eleutherodactylus (Craugastor) gollmeri group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 227. See accounts by Lee, 1996, Amph. Rept. Yucatan Peninsula: 61–62, Campbell, 1998, Amph. Rept. N. Guatemala Yucatan Belize: 53; Lee, 2000, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Maya World: 65-67; and McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 399–403 (who noted the likelihood of cryptic species within this complex). McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 37, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. In the Craugastor laticeps species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 38. In the subgenus Craugastor but not assigned to species series by Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 123. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 619. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 140–191, provided a key to the genera and species of Brachycephaloidea (= Craugastoridae, Eleutherodactylidae) in Central America and provided maps and photographs of the species, including this one.
