Distribution

Elevations of 800–1000 m in the Sierra de Caral, Departamento de Izabal, Guatemala; probably into adjacent Honduras.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus spatulatus subgroup of the Eleutherodactylus alfredi group according to the original publication. McCranie and Smith, 2006, Herpetologica, 62: 190, suggested that this species will be found in northwestern Honduras. In the Craugastor (Hylactophryne) bocourti species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 45. Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 123, rejected species groups within the subgenus HylactophryneKöhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 140–191, provided a key to the genera and species of Brachycephaloidea (= Craugastoridae, Eleutherodactylidae) in Central America and provided maps and photographs of the species, including this one.
