Distribution

Currently known from two municipalities (Atoyac de Álvarez and General Heliodoro Castillo) in the Sierra Madre del Sur of southwest-central Guerrero, in tropical evergreen forest, cloud forest, oak woodland, pine-oak forest, and riparian vegetation between 900 and 2100 m elevation.

In the Eleutherodactylus (Syrrhophus) nitidus species series, Eleutherodactylus (Syrrhophus) nitidus group, according to the original publication, where the molecular markers, external morphology, and advertisement call were detailed and compared to other species in the species group in addition to providing a range map.I n the Eleutherodactylus (Syrrhophus) nitidus clade of Hernández-Austria, García-Vázquez, Grünwald, and Parra-Olea, 2022, Syst. Biodiversity, 20 (1: 2014597): 1–20, who reported on molecular phylogenetics.
