Eastern Jamaica in the northern part of the Blue Mountains and John Crow Mountains (Portland and St. Thomas parishes) at least as far west as Whitfield Hall, 0–1275 m elevation.

Schwartz and Fowler, 1973, Stud. Fauna Curaçao and other Caribb. Is., 43: 118, first suggested that Eleutherodactylus pantoni pentasyringos may actually be a distinct species. Subsequently, Hedges, 1989, in Woods (ed.), Biogeograph. W. Indies: 321. recognized Eleutherodactylus pentasyringos as distinct and in his Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) luteolus series, Eleutherodactylus gossei group. In the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) gossei group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 230.
