Pristimantis cryptopictus Patiño-Ocampo, Duarte-Marín, and Rivera-Correa, 2022, Rev. Latinoam. Herpetol., 5: 70. Holotipo: MHUA-A 12478, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Antioquia, Municipio El Carmen de Viboral, Vereda La Madera, vía El Carmen de Viboral-La Unión (6.032961º N, 75.327789º W, 2660 m s.n.m.)".

Distribution

Northern part of the Cordillera Central in subparamo and cloud forests in the Departament of Antioquia, including the municipalities of Bello, Belmira, Caldas, El Carmen de Viboral, El Retiro, Envigado, La Ceja, La Unión, Medellín, Rionegro, San Andrés de Cuerquia, Santa Rosa de Osos, and  Sonsón.

Previously confused with Pristimantis dorsopictus, according to the original publication, where calls, comparative morphology, and molecular markers were detailed as well as assignment to the Pristimantis boulengeri group.
