Páramo grasslands along the mountain crests east and north of Loja, in Loja and Zamora Chinchipe Provinces, Ecuador, 2710–3100 m.

In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) orestes species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 125. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 128.
