Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus (Craugastor) biporcatus group of Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 228. See account by Lynch, 1975, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 38: 1-46 (as Eleutherodactylus maussi). Savage and Myers, 2002, Am. Mus. Novit., 3357: 14 (account on page 21-24), noted that the name Strabomantis biporcatus had previously been assigned incorrectly to the species now named Eleutherodactylus gulosus, and assigned to the species formerly referred to as Eleutherodactylus maussi. Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 227, included this species in his Eleutherodactylus fitzingeri series, Eleutherodactylus biporcatus group. In the Strabomantis biporcatus species series, Strabomantis biporcatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 131, and Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 123. Barrio-Amorós and Kaiser, 2008, Salamandra, 44: 248-254, detailed the geographic range of the species in Venezuela. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 130–131, for comments on range and literature.
