Atelopus manauensis Jorge, Ferrão, and Lima, 2020, Diversity, 12 (310): 10. Holotype: INPA-H 041378, by original designation. Type locality: "on the banks of a stream in the Tinga drainage system, Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke (RFAD; 2°55′4.8” S, 59°53′52.8” W), middle course on the west bank of Puraquequara River, tributary of the north bank of the Amazon River, municipality of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil." Distribution

Limited to the interfluve between the Negro and the Uatumã Rivers in the Alter do Chão formation, within a narrow altitudinal range (61–125 m), and restricted to the micro-interfluve between the east bank of the Cuieiras River and the west bank of the Urubu River, which are tributaries of the Negro and the Amazon Rivers, Amazonas, Brazil.

Comment

Previously confused with both Atelopus pulcher and Atelopus spumarius (both of which differ in morphology and advertisement call), according to the original publication. Gascon, 1989, Rev. Brasil. Zool., 6: 235–239, described larval morphology (as Atelopus pulcher), according to Schiesari, Rossa-Feres, Menin, and Hödl, 2022, Zootaxa, 5223: 29–30, who detailed larval and metamorph morphology and natural history. Jorge, Lima, and Stow, 2022, Conserv. Genetics, 23: 559–574, reported on geographic and within-population genetic variation.
