Related to Ingerophrynus biporcatus (as Bufo) according to Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 312. In the former Bufo biporcatus group of Inger, 1972, in Blair (ed.), Evol. Genus Bufo: 107. See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 26, to compare this species with others in the Sunda Shelf region (as Bufo).
