Atelopus bufoniformis Peracca, 1904, Boll. Mus. Zool. Anat. Comp. Univ. Torino, 19 (465): 20. Syntypes: MZUT 561 (2 specimens), according to Gavetti and Andreone, 1993, Cat. Mus. Reg. Sci. Nat., Torino, 10: 69. Type locality: "Pun" = Puno, Carchi Province, Ecuador.

English Names

Peracca's Plump Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 45).

Distribution

Northern Ecuador (Carchi, Sucumbíos, and Tungurahua provinces) to southern Colombia (eastern and western slopes of the southern part of the Cordillera Central, Nariño and western Putumayo departments, north to Valle de Cauca Department), between 2700 and 4700 m elevation.

Evol., 65: 805–822, suggested on the basis of molecular evidence that this taxon is a species complex.
