Cochranella garciae Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1995, Lozania, 62: 14. Holotype: ICN 11752, by original designation. Type locality: "Departamento de Cauca, municipio de Inzá, Km. 64–73 carretera Popayán a Inzá, vertiente oriental Codillera Central, 2° 34′ latitud N, 76° 4′ W de Greenwich, 2590–2660 m", Colombia.

English Names

García's Glassfrog (Guayasamin, Cisneros-Heredia, McDiarmid, Peña, and Hutter, 2020, Diversity, 12 (222): 164).

Distribution

Eastern slope of the Cordillera Central in Colombia in the departments of Cauca, Huila, and Tolima, 1900–2700 m elevation, and 2550–3012 m elevation in the Cordillera Oriental in central and northern Ecuador.

In the Cochranella ocellata group, most similar to Cochranella megacheira, according to the original publication. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 213. Guayasamin, Cisneros-Heredia, McDiarmid, Peña, and Hutter, 2020, Diversity, 12 (222): 164–166, provided a detailed account, primarily focused on the Ecuador segment of the range, including adult morphology, relationships, natural history, and conservation status.
