Cochranella luteopunctata Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1996, Lozania, 68: 3. Holotype: ICN 20747, by original designation. Type locality: "Departamento de Cauca, municipio de El Tambo, vereda La Playa, finca 'La Playa—La Primavera' vertiente occidental de la Cordillera Occidental, 2° 26.76′ Latitud N, 77° 32.43′ W de Greenwich, 1200 a 1500 m."

Not assigned to species group in the original publication. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 52, noted that this species may occur in Ecuador.
