Type locality: "on the right bank of the Teles Pires River, Jacareacanga municipality, Pará state, Brazil (−9.2583°, −56.8057°; datum = WGS84; 184 m above sea level)." Zoobank publication registration: 6B0FDB3B-30B2-471E-9E06-8B7F296F454F Species name is a noun in apposition.

The sister taxon of Allobates caeruleodactylus, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, advertisement call, and molecular markers were detailed.
