Fejervarya muangkanensis Suwannapoom, Yuan, Jiang, Yan, Gao, and Che, 2017, Zool. Res., Kunming, 38: 245. Holotype: KIZ 024627, by original designation. Type locality: "Ban Tha Khanun, Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand (N15°11'52.73", E98°19'29.71"; 712 m a.s.l.)".

Distribution

Known only from small swamps in secondary forests at elevations between 700–900 m in Thong Pha Phum, Kanchanaburi Province, western Thailand, and disjunctly in mainland (Ayeyarwady, Bago, Chin, Kachin, Rakhine) and peninsular (Tanintharyi) Myanmar.

In the original publication shown by mtDNA analysis to be imbedded within Fejervarya sensu lato, this clade subsequently partitioned by Sanchez, Biju, Islam, Hasan, Ohler, Vences, and Kurabayashi, 2018, Salamandra, 54: 109–116, who provided a tree that would place this species within Minervarya as implied by the tree provided by Suwannapoom, Yuan, Jiang, Yan, Gao, and Che, 2017, Zool. Res., Kunming, 38: 246. Köhler, Mogk, Khaing, and Than, 2019, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 69: 183–226, provided an account of the Myanmar populations, reported on the phylogenetic placement of the species and described its advertisement call. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 288–289, provided a brief account (description, photographs, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). See comment under Minervarya andamanensis. Garg and Biju, 2021, Asian Herpetol.
