Indian Mus.: 5; reported as lost by Dubois, 1984, Alytes, 3: 154. Type locality: "Nicobars, in the neighbourhood of the Nancowri harbour".

Known only from the Nicobar Archipelago of India: Central Nicobar (Bompoka Is., Kamorta Is., Nancowry Is., and Katchal Is.) and South Nicobar (Little Nicobar and Great Nicobar).

Removed provisionally from the synonymy of Fejervarya andamanensis by Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 61, where it had been placed by Dubois, 1984, Alytes, 3: 154. Sarkar and Ray, 2006, In Alfred (ed.), Fauna of Arunachal Pradesh, Part 1: 297, provided a questionable report for Arunachal Pradesh, as well as for West Bengal. Das and Dutta, 2007, Hamadryad, 31: 154–181, noted no larval descriptions in the literature. Garg and Biju, 2021, Asian Herpetol. Res., 12: 345–370, summarized the systematics (morphology and molecular markers) of this member of the Minervarya andamanensis group and mapped its distribution.
