Comment

Confused previously with Occidozyga martensi. The original publication detailed comparative morphology, molecular markers, natural history, conservation status, and distribution and noted that records of Occidozyga martensi from southwestern Yunnan, China, may be of this species but require genetic confirmation. See Occidozyga martensi record for access to literature that addresses this species in the sense of being included within that species. Shi, 2011, Amph. Rept. Fauna Hainan: 89–90, provided an account (as Occidozyga martensii) for Hainan.
