Comment

Closely allied to Hyla granosa, according to the original publication, or a possible synonym, according to Rivero, 1967, Mem. Soc. Cienc. Nat. La Salle, 27: 7-8. In the Hypsiboas punctatus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 88. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 61–62, for comments on range and literature as well as taxonomy, including the suggestion that the holotype (likely conspecific with Boana punctata, in agreement with La Marca, 1992, Cuad. Geograf., Mérida, 9: 1–197) and paratype (possibly a juvenile Boana xerophylla) are probably not conspecific.
