Hist., 294: 83. Lyra, Lourenço, Pinheiro, Pezzuti, Baêta, Barlow, Hofreiter, Pombal, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2020, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 190: 1235–1255, provided evidence that this species is in Boana, with Boana claresignata forming the Boana claresignata group; they also reported on morphology and advertisement call.
