Hypsiboas stellae Kwet, 2008, Salamandra, 44: 2. Holotype: MCP 5621, by original designation. Type locality: "A small unnamed forest stream (confluent of Rio Pardinho which is a confluent of Rio Pardo; both streams are tributaries of Rio Jacuí), at the southern slope of the South Brazilian Araucaria plateau, at about 400 m a.s.l., about 15 km N of Sinimbu, 52° 36′ W, 29° 34′ S, Municipality of Sinimbu, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil".

Currently known only from the southern slope of the Araucaria Plateau in central Rio Grande do Sul, at 200–600 m elevation

Comment

In the Hypsiboas semiguttatus clade of the Hypsiboas pulchellus group according to the original publication, where the advertisement call, external morphology, and life history were detailed. Widholzer and Castroviejo-Fisher, 2018, Zootaxa, 4508: 582–586, reported on larval morphology. Widholzer and Prieto-Torres, 2022, North-West. J. Zool., Romania, 18: 168–178, discussed distribution pattern and ecological differentiation.
