Distribution

Northern Amazonian region of Ecuador (Napo, Orellana, and Sucumbíos provinces), Peru (Loreto and Ucayali), Colombia (Valle de Guamuez, Putumayo department, and Municipio Solano, Caquetá) and Assis, Acre, Brazil, elevations of 176 to 350 m.

In the Hypsiboas albopunctatus species group, Hypsiboas calcaratus complex, most similar to Hypsiboas tetete according to the original publication, where morphology, morphometrics, molecular markers, and advertisement call were detailed. Carvalho, Bang, Teixeira, and Giaretta, 2017, Check List, 13(4): 135–139, provided the record from Assis, Acre, Brazil. Meza-Joya, Ramos-Pallares, and Hernández-Jaimes, 2019, Herpetol. Notes, 12: 391–400, reported the species from Valle del Guamez, Putumayo Department, Colombia. Medina-Rangel, Thompson, Ruiz-Valderrama, Fajardo Muñoz, Lombana Lugo, Londoño-Guarnizo, Moquena Carbajal, Ríos Rosero, Sánchez Pamo, and Sánchez, 2019, in Pitman et al. (eds.), Bajo Caguán–Caquetá, Rapid Invent. 30: 118, reported the species from Peñas Rojas, Municipio Solano, Caquetá Department, Colombia. Rainha, Martinez, Moraes, Castro, Réjaud, Fouquet, Leite, Rodrigues, and Werneck, 2021, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 134: 177–197, included this species in their Boana steinbachi clade and discussed phylogenetics and the influence of subtle environmental factors on geographic variation in morphology. Gagliardi-Urrutia, García Dávila, Jaramillo-Martinez, Rojas-Padilla, Rios-Alva, Aguilar-Manihuari, Pérez-Peña, Castroviejo-Fisher, Simões, Estivals, Guillen Huaman, Castro Ruiz, Angulo Chávez, Mariac, Duponchelle, and Renno, 2022, Anf. Loreto: 84–85, provided a brief account, photograph, dot map, and genetic barcode for Loreto, Peru. Crnobrna, Santa-Cruz Farfan, Gallegos, López-Rojas, Llanqui, Panduro Pisco, and Kelsen Arbaiza, 2023, Check List, 19: 443, provided a record of Boana cf. alfaroi from Ucayali Department, central-eastern Peru.
