Dendropsophus shiwirarum Ortega-Andrade and Ron, 2013, Zootaxa, 3652: 164. Holotype: DHMECN 4393, by original designation. Type locality: "Kurintza, 2.060° S, 76.780° W, 354–m elevation, Pastaza province, Republic of Ecuador".

Distribution

Evergreen forest of eastern Ecuador in the = provinces of Napo, Orellana, Pastaza and Sucumbíos, up to 550 m elevation, as well as southern Caquetá, Colombia; likely into adjacent northeastern Peru (Departamento de Loreto).

In the Dendropsophus microcephalus group and confused with Dendropsophus riveroi prior to its naming according to the original publication. Medina-Rangel, Thompson, Ruiz-Valderrama, Fajardo Muñoz, Lombana Lugo, Londoño-Guarnizo, Moquena Carbajal, Ríos Rosero, Sánchez Pamo, and Sánchez, 2019, in Pitman et al. (eds.), Bajo Caguán–Caquetá, Rapid Invent. 30: 119, reported the species from Peñas Rojas and Bajo Aguas Negras, Caquetá Department, Colombia. In the Dendropsophus microcephalus group of Orrico, Grant, Faivovich, Rivera-Correa, Rada, Lyra, Cassini, Valdujo, Schargel, Machado, Wheeler, Barrio-Amorós, Loebmann, Moravec, Zina, Solé, Sturaro, Peloso, Suárez, and Haddad, 2021, Cladistics, 37: 73–105.
