Phyllodytes kautskyi Peixoto and Cruz, 1988, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 48: 266. Holotype: EI 7728, by original designation. Type locality: "Município de Domingos Martins, Estado do Espírito Santo", Brazil.

Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 62: 185–191, Caramaschi, Peixoto, and Rodrigues, 2004, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 62: 185–191, and Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 110. Cruz, Feio, and Cardoso, 2007 "2006", Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 64: 322, noted that previous records for Bahia, are based on Phyllodytes maculosus. Simon and Gasparini, 2003, Bol. Mus. Biol. Mello Leitão, N.S.,, 16: 47–54, reported on vocalization. Forti, Foratto, Márquez, Pereira, and Toledo, 2018, PeerJ, 6(e4813): 1–19, characterized the advertisement call.
