Hyla littoralis Pombal and Gordo, 1991, Mem. Inst. Butantan, São Paulo, 53: 136. Holotype: ZUEC 8892, by original designation. Type locality: "vale do Rio Verde, Estação Ecológica da Juréia-Itatins, Município de Iguape, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil (aprox. 24° 30′ S, 46° 15′ W)".

English Names

Rio Verde Snouted Treefrog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 64).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (São Paulo) and one locality in Paraná and another in northeastern Santa Catarina in southeastern Brazil, presumably to be found more widely and in intervening areas.

Stated to be in the Hyla catharinae complex (Scinax catharinae complex of this list) and very similar to "Hyla angrensis" (Scinax angrensis of this list) in the original publication where adult and larval morphology were described. In the Scinax catharinae clade, Scinax catharinae group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 95. Tadpoles compared to those of other members of the Scinax catharinae group by Conte, Nomura, Rossa-Feres, d'Heursel, and Haddad, 2007, Amphibia-Reptilia, 28: 177–192. Conte, Garey, Lingnau, Silva, Armstrong, and Hartmann, 2009, Check List, 5: 202–209, provided the first record for Paraná, Brazil. Lucas and Garcia, 2011, Check List, 7: 13–16, provided a record in the northeastern part of the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, and discussed the range. Garey, Costa, Lima, Toledo, and Hartmann, 2012, Acta Herpetol., Firenze, 7: 297–308, reported on the advertisement call. In the Ololygon catharinae group of Araujo-Vieira, Lourenço, Lacerda, Lyra, Blotto, Ron, Baldo, Pereyra, Suárez-Mayorga, Baêta, Ferreira, Barrio-Amorós, Borteiro, Brandão, Brasileiro, Donnelly, Dubeux, Köhler, Kolenc, Leite, Maciel, Nunes, Orrico, Peloso, Pezzuti, Reichle, Rojas-Runjaic, Silva, Sturaro, Langone, Garcia, Rodrigues, Frost, Wheeler, Grant, Pombal, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2023, S.
