Comment

See comment under Scinax pulchellusConte, Nomura, Machado, Kwet, Lingnau, and Rossa-Feres, 2010, Biota Neotrop., São Paulo, 10: 201–224, provided new records from Paraná and discussed natural history and the advertisement call. See nomenclatural comments by Lavilla and Cei, 2001, Monogr. Mus. Reg. Sci. Nat. Torino, 28: 54–55 (as Scinax eringiophilus). For account and placement in the Scinax ruber group see Kwet, 2001, Salamandra, 37: 211–238. The Scinax ruber group rejected as nonmonophyletic by Faivovich, 2002, Cladistics, 18: 367–393. In the Scinax ruber clade of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 96. Achaval and Olmos, 2003, Anf. Rept. Uruguay, ed. 2: 46, provided a brief account and photograph for the Uruguay population. Cajade and Barrasso, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 99, provided the Buenos Aires record. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 23, discussed the confusion surrounding reports of this species in southern Paraguay, although they suggested that the species is expected to occur in that country. Moresco, Margarido, Nazario, Schmit, and Treco, 2009, Check List, 5: 86–88, provided a spot map for Brazil and the first record for Paraná, Brazil. Agostini and Roesler, 2011, Check List, 7: 112–113, discussed extralimital records in Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Vega, Bellagamba, Stellatelli, and Natale, 2011, Herpetol. Rev., 42: 109, provided the southern-most record in Argentina and commented on the range. Malleret, Freire, Lemes, Brum, Camargo, and Verrastro, 2022, Zool. Scripta, 51: 330–347, reported on molecular phylogeography, concluding that the name represents a complex composed of 4 mtDNA lineages and 2 species, one of which remains unnamed. Duhalde, Bach, Pérez Iglesias, and Gontero, 2022, Herpetol. Rev., 53: 628, provided a record from Villa de Merlo, Junín Department, San Luis Province, Argentina. In the Scinax granulatus group of Araujo-Vieira, Lourenço, Lacerda, Lyra, Blotto, Ron, Baldo, Pereyra, Suárez-Mayorga, Baêta, Ferreira, Barrio-Amorós, Borteiro, Brandão, Brasileiro, Donnelly, Dubeux, Köhler, Kolenc, Leite, Maciel, Nunes, Orrico, Peloso, Pezzuti, Reichle, Rojas-Runjaic, Silva, Sturaro, Langone, Garcia, Rodrigues, Frost, Wheeler, Grant, Pombal, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2023, S.
