Serra Negra da Mantiqueira complex including the protected areas of Serra Negra da Mantiqueira State Park, the Reserva Particular do Patrimonio Natural (Private Reserve), Chapadão da Serra Negra, and the Área de Proteçã.o Ambiental’ (Environmental Protection Area) Boqueirão da Mira, state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, 900 to 1730 m elevation.

In the Hylodes lateristrigatus group according to the original publication. Almeida, Yves, Lima, Novato, and Neves, 2021, J. Nat. Hist., London, 55: 23–24, 1477–1490, reported on natural history, sexual dimorphism, and distribution, including a range map. Montesinos, Carvalho, Silva, Anganoy-Criollo, and Dias, 2022, Zootaxa, 5219: 388–396, reported on larval morphology.
