Comment

Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 105–109, in his account of the species noted that the three subspecies are allopatric and diagnosable. See comments by Rödel, 1998, Rev. Fr. Aquar. Herpetol., 25: 128–129. Rödel, 2000, Herpetofauna W. Afr., 1: 221–224, provided an account. Rödel and Branch, 2002, Salamandra, 38: 259, noted that the name covers three described subspecies and two additional similar species restricted to Tai National Park and the Mont Nimba region. Schiøtz, 1963, Vidensk. Medd. Dansk Naturhist. Foren., 125: 66–69, provided records for Nigeria. Rödel, Brede, Schiefenhövel, Penner, Sinsin, and Nago, 2007, Salamandra, 43: 238, provided a record from Lama Forest, southern Benin.
