Mantidactylus (Spinomantis) phantasticus Glaw and Vences, 1997 "1996", Salamandra, 32: 246. Holotype: ZFMK 60000, by original designation. Holotype: "Regenwald bei An'Ala (zur Kolonialzeit Haltestella 'La forêt' der Eisenbahn), etwa 9 km östlich von Adasibe (= Perinet), 840 m über NN", central Madagascar.

Comment

Most closely related to Mandidactylus aglavei and Mantidactylus fimbriatus according to the original publication. Vejarano, Thomas, and Vences, 2006, Contrib. Zool., Amsterdam, 75: 99–108, reported on larval morphology. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 206–207, provided an account.
