Distribution

Known  from the type locality (Cao Bo Commune, Vi Xuyen District, Ha Giang Province) and Tay Yen Tu Nature Reserve, Bac Giang Province, Vietnam; Xiaoqiaogou Nature Reserve, Yunnan, China.

Confused with Leptolalax bourreti (e.g, by Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 1–370) prior to its naming according to the original publication. Hecht, Pham, Nguyen, Nguyen, Bonkowski, and Ziegler, 2013, Biodiversity J., 4: 507–552, reported a record from Tay Yen Tu Nature Reserve, Bac Giang Province, northeastern Vietnam and discussed the range. Reported from Xiaoqiaogou Nature Reserve, Yunnan, China, by Chen, Poyarkov, Suwannapoom, Lathrop, Wu, Zhou, Yuan, Jin, Chen, Liu, Nguyen, Nguyen, Duong, Eto, Nishikawa, Matsui, Orlov, Stuart, Brown, Rowley, Murphy, Wang, and Che, 2018, Mol.
