Leptobrachella wulingensis Qian, Xia, Cao, Xiao, and Yang, 2020, Zootaxa, 4816: 497. Holotype: CSUFT 201, by original designation. Distribution

Currently known from three localities in the Wuling Mountains (Tianquanshan Forest Park and Tianzishan Nature Reserve, Zhangjiajie, and Tianpingshan, Sangzhi County), Hunan Province, China, 414 to 1310 m elevation; also reported from Fanjingshan, Guizhou Province, China, 539 m elevation.

Previously confused with Leptobrachella oshanensis, but most closely related to Leptobrachella alpina, Leptobrachella bijie, Leptobrachella bourreti, Leptobrachella eos, Leptobrachella oshanensis, Leptobrachella purpuraventra, Leptobrachella purpurus, and Leptobrachella suiyangensis according to the original publication. Liu, Li, Cheng, Chen, Zhang, and Wei, 2021, Sichuan J. Zool., 40: 189–195, reported the species (genetically confirmed) from Fanjingshan in Jiangkou County, Guizhou Province, China. Qian, Hou, and Yang, 2023, Zootaxa, 5323: 147–150, reported on the advertisement call.
