Distribution
Known from Mount Nankun in Guangdong Province and the type locality, Jiulian Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province, and Mangshan Mountain, Hunan, China; inhabits forest floor, leaf litter and the nearby undergrowth mountainous streams surrounded by moist subtropical evergreen broadleaved forests at elevations between 500–800 m.

Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 431–432, provided an account, discussed the systematic literature, and placed this in their Boulenophrys boettgeri group. Shang, Luo, Qian, Gao, Li, Deng, and Yang, 2023, Life Sci. Res., 27: 349–360, discussed the taxonomic status, comparative morphology, and molecular markers for a population from the Mangshan National Nature Reserve, Hunan, China.
