Distribution

Known only from the type locality, Longkeng Village, Puning, Jieyang, Guangdong, China, where it inhabits montane streams and adjacent forest floor and leaf litter at 120 to 300 m elevation.

Comment

The sister taxon of Boulenophrys kuatunensis, according to the original publication, where comparative external morphology and molecular markers were detailed. Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 437, provided an account and placed it in their Borneophrys boettgeri group.
