Holotype: MZB Amph 31752, by original designation. Type locality: "Desa Kembiri (03.05489° S, 107.77467° E, at 6 m a.s.l.), Kecamatan Membalong, Kabupaten Belitung, in the Province of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, Indonesia, collected from open garden area between a settlement and oil palm plantation". Comment

In the Microhyla achatina group and the sister taxon of Microhyla orientalis according to the original publication, where external morphology, 16S mtDNA molecular markers, and advertisement call were discussed comparatively with other members of the species group.
