Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Microhyla inornata by Dubois, 1987, Alytes, 6: 8, where it had been placed tentatively by Parker, 1928, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 10, 2: 498. This removal from synonymy implicitly rejected by Zhao and Adler, 1993, Herpetol. China: 163. Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 298–99, provided a brief account, figure, and map. Lue, Tu, and Hsiang, 1999, Atlas Taiwan Amph. Rept.: 62–63, provided a brief account. See illustration, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 454. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 920–924, provided an account and spot map. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 490, provided a brief account including photographs of specimens. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 577, provided an account, photographs, and a range map. See discussion by Poyarkov, Nguyen, Duong, Gorin, and Yang, 2018, PeerJ, 6 (e5771): 1–27. Das, Garg, Hamidy, Smith, and Biju, 2019, PeerJ, 7(e7012): 23–24, designated the described the lectotype. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 43, briefly discussed Micryletta cf. steinegeri as a species complex, pointing to the study of Suwannapoom, Nguyen, Pawangkhanant, Gorin, Chomdej, Che, and Poyarkov, 2020, Zool. Res., Kunming, 41: 581–588, as the evidentiary source of this view.
