Comment

Lisboa, Silva, and Haddad, 2010, Check List, 6: 493-494, extended the range to Alagoas, Brazil, and provided a range map. Caramaschi and Napoli, 2012, Zootaxa, 3155: 7-12, placed this species in their Odontophrynus cultripes group, provided an account and redelimited the species. Juncá, 2006, Biota Neotrop., 6: 1–17, briefly summarized the presence of this species in the Serra da Jibóia region, Bahia, Brazil, and its habitat, although the distance of this record from the main part of the range suggests that confirmation is needed. Dubeux, Silva, Nascimento, Gonçalves, and Mott, 2019, Rev. Nordestina Zool., 12: 18–52, summarized the literature on larval morphology. See Dubeux, Nascimento, Lima, Magalhães, Silva, Gonçalves, Almeida, Correia, Garda, Mesquita, Rossa-Feres, and Mott, 2020, Biota Neotrop., 20 (2: e20180718): 1–24, for characterization and identification of larvae north of the Rio São Francisco in the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil. Vaz-Silva, Maciel, Nomura, Morais, Guerra Batista, Santos, Andrade, Oliveira, Brandão, and Bastos, 2020, Guia Ident. Anf. Goiás e Dist. Fed. Brasil Central: 163, provided an account for Goiás, Brazil. Dubeux, Gonçalves, Ramos, Melo, Silva, and Mott, 2020, Herpetol. Notes, 13: 997–1002, provided a record for Pedra Talhada Biological Reseerve, Quebrangulo Municipality, Alagoas, Brazil, and commented on natural history and range.  Rosset, Fadel, Guimarães, Carvalho, Ceron, Pedrozo, Serejo, Souza, Baldo, and Mângia, 2021, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 109: 240, noted that an earlier record for Odontophrynus aff. carvalhoi actually apply to Odontophrynus reigi
