Comment

See discussion regarding the taxonomic history of this species and Phrynobatrachus brongersmai by Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 102-103, who removed this species from the synonymy of Phrynobatrachus ogoensis, where it had been placed by Loveridge, 1941, Proc. U.S. Natl. Mus., 91: 114. Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 99-172, summarized the literature. Not addressed by Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883-900, so not assigned to species group. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 292–293, provided a brief account and range map.
