Jackson and Beier, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 487, discussed the range and provided a record in Rep. Congo. Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 287, provided information on comparative larval morphology. Baptista, Conradie, Vaz Pinto, and Branch, 2019, In Huntley, Russo, Lages, and Ferrand (eds.), Biodiversity in Angola: 258, doubted that this species will be found in Cabinda Enclave, Angola. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 40–41, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map (including southern Central African Republic).
