Comment

See Poynton and Broadley, 1985, Ann. Natal Mus., 27: 173-174, for an account of the single species. Bittencourt-Silva, Conradie, Siu-Ting, Tolley, Channing, Cunningham, Farooq, Menegon, and Loader, 2016, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol.: 89–102, reported on the phylogenetic position of the genus, close to Tomopterna, and noted several cryptic species. Conradie, Bittencourt-Silva, Farooq, Loader, Menegon, and Tolley, 2018, Afr. J. Herpetol., 67 (doi.org/10.1080/21564574.2017.1376714): 1–25, revised the genus and provided a molecular estimate of the phylogeny of the species. Portik, Streicher, and Wiens, 2023, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 188 (107907): 66, suggested that recognition of this genus renders Tomopterna non-monophyletic but did not take the taxonomic remedy.
