Pyxicephalus beytelli Du Preez, Netherlands, Rödel, and Channing, 2024, Afr. J. Herpetol., 73: 73. Holotype: NMNW R11398, by original designation. Type locality: "Khaudum National Park, Namibia (19.0809°S, 20.6966°E)". Zoobank publication registration: 15D48E74-594A-46ED-B31A-74F78C94F5C5 (2 April 2024).

Distribution

Western Botswana, north-eastern Namibia, south-western Zambia, and southern Angola, although expected to have a much wider distribution.

Natural Resident: Angola, Botswana, Namibia

Comment

Comparative morphology, molecular markers, and call detailed in the original publication, where the species was estimated to be the sister taxon of Pyxicephalus adspersus. Larval morphology was described as Pyxicephalus edulis from Louth Luangwa, Zambia, by Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 345.
