Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Upper Mali Kha River, Putao County, Kachin State, Myanmar, 544 m elevation), from upper Dulong River System in Gongshan County, Yunnan Province, China, and provisionally from Trashigan District, Bhutan (see comment).

Comment

The sister taxon of Amolops aniquiaoensis according to the original publication. In the Amolops monticola group of Jiang, Ren, Lyu, Wang, Wang, Lv, Wu, and Li, 2021, Zool. Res., Kunming, 42: 574–591. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 35, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar. Mahony, Nidup, Streicher, Teeling, and Kamei, 2022, Herpetol. J., 32: 147, provided a genetically confirmed record of Amolops cf. putaoensis from Trashigan District, Bhutan. Zhang, Liu, Stuart, Wu, Wang, Che, and Yuan, 2022, Herpetozoa, Wien, 35: 231–237, reported a genetically confirmed population from the upper Dulong River System in Gongshan County, Yunnan Province, China, as well as augmenting the morphological description of the species.
