Gracixalus quangi Rowley, Nguyen, Dau, Nguyen, and Cao, 2011, Zootaxa, 3125: 22. Holotype: AMS R 173410, by original designation. Type locality: "on a leaf 1.5 m above rocky seep in a patch of dense, evergreen forest, approximately 10 m from large stream in Pu Hoat Proposed Nature Reserve, Que Phong District, Nghe An Province, Vietnam (19.700° N, 104.738° E, 1,110 m; . . .)".

Distribution

Known only from (1) the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve, Que Phong District, Nghe An Province, (2) Copia Nature Reserve in Son La Province, (3) Xuan Lien Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa Province, (4) Hang Kia–Pa Co, Hoa Binh Province, (5) Ngoc Son–Ngo Luong Nature Reserve, Hoa Binh Province, and Lao Cai Pronvince, northern Vietnam, all west of the Red River; reported from  Laos in Longcheng District, Xaisomboun Province,  and Kasy District, Vientiane Province, and from  Doi Phu Kha National Park, Nan Province, Thailand. 

Comment

The sister taxon of Gracixalus supercornutus according to the original publication. Nguyen, Le, Pham, Nguyen, Bonkowski, and Ziegler, 2013, Organisms Divers. Evol., 13: 203–214, provided molecular evidence that nominal Gracixalus quangi is composed of more than one species. Rowley, Dau, Hoang, Nguyen, Le, and Altig, 2015, Amphibia-Reptilia, 36: 277–285, provided information on larval morphology and discussed the advertisement call compared with near relatives. Pham, Rauhaus, Tran, Niggemann, Dang, Le, Nguyen, and Ziegler, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13: 90–103, amplified the range, including adding localities in Binh Hoa Province, Vietnam, and described the larvae. Nguyen, Brakels, Maury, Sudavanh, Pawangkhanant, Idiiatullina, Lorphengsy, Inkhavilay, Suwannapoom, and Poyarkov, 2020, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 14 (2: e248): 218–249, discussed the natural history and range and provided a records for Laos. Liu, Rao, and Li, 2020, Russ. J. Herpetol., 27: 275–283, reported the species from Mengla in southern Yunnan, China. Lorphengsy, Nguyen, Poyarkov, Wu, Pawangkhanant, Passorn, Che, and Suwannapoom, 2021, Biodiversity Data J., 9 (e67667): 1–15, employing molecular assay, redelimited the ranges of Gracixalus quangi and Gracixalus yunnanensis.
