Gracixalus sapaensis Matsui, Ohler, Eto, and Nguyen, 2017, Alytes, 33: 28. Holotype: MNHNP 1999.5961, by original designation. English Names

Sapa Bushfrog (Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 55). 

Distribution

Known from northwestern Vietnam in Lai Chau (Phon Tho and Tam Duong), Lao Cai (Sa Pa, and Bat Xat), and Dak Lak (Chu Yang Sin), 1250 to 2340 m elevation.

Comment

The records of this species in Vietnam were previously predominantly assigned to Gracixalus carinensis. See account (as Philautus carinensis) by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 468-469. Orlov, Lathrop, Murphy, and Ho, 2001, Russ. J. Herpetol., 8: 19, listed Kurixalus carinensis as part of the Vietnam fauna.  Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 93, provided the Vietnam component of the range statement, as Kurxalus carinensis. See photograph in Orlov, Ho, and Nguyen, 2004, Russ. J.
