Gracixalus ziegleri Le, Do, Tran, Nguyen, Orlov, Ninh, and Nguyen, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28: 114. Holotype: HNUE A00147, by original designation. Type locality: "forest of Nam Khat Commune (21°40.254′ N 104°08.050′ E, at an elevation of 2202 m), Mu Cang Chai SHCA, Yen Bai Province, Vietnam."

In a trichotomy with Gracixalus sapaensis and Gracixalus tianlinensis, according to the original publication, where morphology and molecular markers were detailed.
