Lue, Tu, and Hsiang, 1999, Atlas Taiwan Amph. Rept.: 38-39, provided a brief account for Taiwan (as Chirixalus eiffingeri). Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 740-745, provided an account (as Kurixalus eiffingeri) and a spot map for China. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 444, provided a brief account (as Kurixalus eiffingeri) for China including photographs of specimens. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 520–521, provided an account (as Kurixalus eiffingeri), photographs, and a range map for Taiwan (in the sense of including Kurixalus wangi and Kurixalus beryllinisWu, Huang, Tsai, Li, Jhang, and Wu, 2016, ZooKeys, 557: 121–153, provided a range map for Taiwan (as Kurixalus eiffingeri). Guo, Yang, and Li, 2009, Colored Illust. Amph. Rept. Taiwan: 108–109, provided a brief account (as Kurixalus eiffingeri), photographs, and map. Chang, Ma, Chen, and Wu, 2017, Acta Herpetol., Firenze, 12: 139–150, reported on karyotype. Dufresnes and Litvinchuk, 2022, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 195: 735, noted that nominal Kurixalus eiffingeri is composed of three mtDNA lineages, one (Kurixalus eiffingeri) from the southern Ryukyus of Japan, one (Kurixalus pollicaris) from central and western Taiwan, and an unnamed species, which they referred to as Kurixalus cf. eiffingeri, from northern Taiwan. They therefor resurrected the name Kurixalus pollicaris from the synonymy of Kurixalus eiffingeri, where it had been placed by Zhao and Adler, 1993, Herpetol. China: 152. The mtDNA population referred to as Kurixalus cf. eiffingeri (the sister of Kurixalus pollicaris on the basis of mtDNA analysis) remains unnamed.
