Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Polypedates megacephalus by Kuraishi, Matsui, Ota, and Chen, 2011, Zootaxa, 2744: 53–61, where it had been placed by Stejneger, 1925, Proc. U.S. Natl. Mus., 66: 30; Ahl, 1931, Das Tierreich, 55: 137; Wolf, 1936, Bull. Raffles Mus., 12: 178; and Zhao and Adler, 1993, Herpetol. China: 156. Okada, 1931, Tailless Batr. Japan. Empire: 184–185, for review (as Rhacophorus leucomystax) of Taiwan (China) population. Lue, Tu, and Hsiang, 1999, Atlas Taiwan Amph. Rept.: 42–43, provided a brief account (as Polypedates megacephalus) for Taiwan. Introduced populations from Okinawa (Japan) and Guam may be of this species rather than Polypedates megacephalus. Records of Polypedates megacephalus from Taiwan apply to this species. Kuraishi, Matsui, Hamidy, Belabut, Ahmad, Panha, Sudin, Yong, Jiang, Ota, Thong, and Nishikawa, 2013, Zool. Scripta, 42: 54–70, discussed the taxonomic status of this member of the Polypedates leucomystax group. Pan, Dang, Wang, Zheng, Rao, and Li, 2013, Asian Herpetol. Res., 4: 124–133, provided a phylogeny reconstruction of the Polypedates leucomystax that suggested that this species extends to Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Anhui. Zug, 2013, Rept. Amph. Pacific Is.: 77–68, provided a brief discussion of the introduced Guam population. Huang, Li, Luo, Ni, Yao, Xu, Zeng, Li, Wei, and Zhang, 2019, MtDNA, Part B, 4: 1739–1740, reported on the complete mt genome. Rahman, Chen, Wu, Chen, Lwin, Murphy, Li, and Che, 2020, Zootaxa, 4742: 531–541, provided the extreme northern Myanmar and Xizang records, genetically confirmed. Lalronunga, Vanramliana, Lalrinchhana, Vanlalhrima, Sailo, Lalnunhlua, Sailo, Zosangliana, Lalhmangaiha, and Lalhmingliani, 2020, Sci. Vision, 20: 106–117, provided a record from Mizoram, northeastern India, genetically confirmed. Che, Jiang, Yan, and Zhang, 2020, Amph. Rept. Tibet: 348–352, provided a detailed account for Tibet, China. Yuan, Deng, Jiang, Klaus, Orlov, Yang, and Li, 2021, Zool. Res., Kunming, 42: supplmentary data, provided a genetically-confirmed locality from Phu Hin Rong, Phitsanulok, north-central Thailand. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib.
