Polypedates pseudocruciger Das and Ravichandran, 1998 "1997", Hamadryad, 22: 89. Holotype: ZSI-SRS VA 1077, by original designation. Type locality: "Glenbeck Estates, near Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District (08° 15′ N; 77° 25′ E), Tamil Nadu State, southern India."

Previously considered to represent Indian populations of Polypedates cruciger (e.g., Daniels and Ravichandran, 1995, Asiat. Herpetol. Res., 6: 36-37). Daniels, 2005, Amph. Peninsular India: 167-169, provided an account. A very brief characterization, photograph, and dot map provided by Subramanian, Dinesh, and Radhakrishnan, 2013, Atlas of Endemic Amph. W. Ghats: 119. Das and Dutta, 2007, Hamadryad, 31: 154–181, noted no larval descriptions in the literature. Sivaprasad, 2013, Common Amph. Kerala: 156–157, provided a brief account, photograph, and dot map for Kerala, India. Raj, 2023, J. Threatened Taxa, 15: 24218–24221, reported on larval morphology.
