Philautus hallidayi Meegaskumbura and Manamendra-Arachchi, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 326. Holotype: WHT 3575, by original designation. Type locality: "Hanthana range, Kandy, elevation 510-800 m (07° 15′ N, 80° 34′ E)", Sri Lanka.

Distribution

Known only from two localities in Sri Lankan wet forest: Hanthana Range, Kandy (510-800 m elevation), and Tonacombe Estate, Namunukula (1240 m elevation).

Comment

The sister taxon of Pseudophilautus cavirostris (as Philautus) according to the original publication. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 524. de Silva, 2009, Amph. Rep. Sri Lanka Photograph. Guide: 103, provided a brief account and color photograph. Ellepola, Herath, Manamendra-Arachchi, Wijayathilaka, Senevirathne, Pethiyagoda, and Meegaskumbura, 2021, PLoS One, 16(10: e0258594): 10, noted that on molecular criteria alone this nominal species is likely conspecific with Pseudophilautus fergusonianus.
