Rhacophorus pleurotaenia Boulenger, 1904, J. Bombay Nat. Hist. Soc., 15: 430. Holotype: BMNH 1947.2.7.64 (formerly 1903.9.26.49) according to Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 37, and museum records. Reported as lost by Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 227. Type locality: "Kandy", Sri Lanka.

Distribution

Known only from three localities, the type locality (Kandy) and Gannoruwa and Nawalapitaya, near Kandy, Sri Lanka, cal 684 m elevation.

Comment

Resurrected provisionally from the synonymy of Polypedates microtympanum by Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 107, where it had been placed by Wolf, 1936, Bull. Raffles Mus., 12: 174. Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 225–228, provided an account and noted this species to resemble Philautus asankai, Philautus hoipolloi, and Philautus auratus.
